About The Writer/Director, Angela de la Bastide
Angela de la Bastide grew up in West Babylon, NY (Long Island). She has a younger brother, Jimmy, and a cockerspaniel (her baby) named Star. Her parents, MaryLou Pennisi and James W. de la Bastide have always been supportive of her dreams and encouraged, as well as supported, her every step of the way. In highschool (Angela attended West Babylon High School), Angela studied music. She took up the guitar and soon began teaching children how to play. After graduation (1992), Angela attended Five Towns College in Dix Hills, but decided to take a break early on from college in order to gain some real life experience. She moved out on her own at age 19 while she worked at Genovese to pay the bills. There, she met her best friend, June. Angela, always interested in writing and the media, decided to go back to college where she studied Communication Arts and minored in film. During last summer, Angela tried her hand at writing a feature length script. She received praise from teachers and peers for her writing style and technique and decided to try her hand at producing it herself. This script, 'ALMOST HOME,' has turned into a pilot and will be produced for Manhattan Neighborhood Network. She will be receiving a BA in Communication Arts this Spring from NYIT. During her time at NYIT, she wrote & directed three student films, the latest entitled "Midnight Mary," a short based on the Long Island myth of "Mary's Grave." During that film, she worked with actors Annie Kessler (Haley), Pauline Martino (Kara), and Greg Sweeney (Bartender). "They were the nicest, talented and patient group of people [actors] I have ever had the honor to work with. So great that I approached them to join me on my current project 'ALMOST HOME,' thankfully for me they accepted!" Along with the three of them aboard and a very talented cast & crew, Angela knows she, and 'ALMOST HOME,' has a shot at success. Angela continues to write and would like to someday venture into writing novels, but enjoys writing for television and film. "I enjoy being able to create a character from scratch and bring them to life. Being able to create a character that an audience can relate to is the most amazing feeling. Knowing you can connect to people on that deep of a level and stir up emotions is what writing is all about." Angela enjoys writing, traveling, spending time with family and friends (and star), movies, music and jetskiing.

  On The Actors...

  On The Crew...

SPECIAL THANKS TO... I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my parents Marylou Pennisi and James W. de la Bastide for their love, support and words of wisdom. Mom, you've given me the gift or writing, the vision to see the big picture, and the wisdom to follow my heart. Dad, you taught me to go after what I want and make it a reality and to stand tall and proud even through the hard times in life. To my brother Jimmy for making me realize I should follow my dreams no matter what; for without them as people we are empty. To my best friend June, the sister I never had, but found through our friendship, who helped inspire the story concept for Almost Home and has always been my "big sister" when I needed her most. Thanks for the talks, keeping me on target with school and all your support and encouragement! I couldn't have done it without you.To all my other close friends, you know who you are... It's so nice to have someone to confide in, listen to me complain (haha) and share all the good and bad, ups and downs we've all been through. And of course to my talented Cast and Crew I couldn't have gotten this far with this project without you! Keep up the great work!
